Frequently asked questions

Have questions about CicoPass? Here you’ll find clear answers to the most common topics — from registration and label replacement to ownership transfer and theft reporting.

What happens if the CicoPass BikeShield is removed? +
When you register your bike with CicoPass BikeShield, you include key details such as the brand and frame number. Your bike remains identifiable even without the CicoPass BikeShield, since the chip works like a license plate and the registration is linked to the frame number — similar to a car’s chassis number
Registration and identification of your bike at CicoPass +
When you register your bike, you provide as many details as possible — such as brand and unique frame number. These identifiers ensure that your bike can always be recognized, even if the BikeShield or chip is missing. The CicoPass chip functions like a vehicle registration plate, but the frame number remains the primary identifier, similar to cars tracked by their chassis number.
Is it possible to get a replacement BikeShield? +
Yes, absolutely. You can easily request a replacement BikeShield from our website. Simply log into your account, select your bike, and choose the “Replace chip” option.
Can I transfer my CicoPass to another person? +
Yes, you can transfer your registered bike and its full history to another person. Log into your CicoPass profile, select the registered bike, and click “Transfer ownership” to complete the process.
Why choose CicoPass instead of engraving my ID number into the frame? +
Engraving your bike frame with a personal ID (like a postal code) can void your frame warranty and reduce resale value. CicoPass, on the other hand, is non-permanent and does not damage the frame. The BikeShield can be removed or replaced without harm.
What should I do when buying a second-hand bike registered with CicoPass? +
Before purchasing, check the CicoPass QR code or BikeShield to verify its registration status. After buying, ask the previous owner to transfer the registration to your name through their account.
